The Chambers Beneath Enters Beta Testing

The latest Cyningstan game has entered beta testing. The Chambers Beneath is a roguelike dungeon crawler role-playing game in the Moria tradition, with a city at ground level from which you can buy supplies and sell loot. The game runs on an IBM PC with CGA graphics.

The Chambers Beneath has been in development since 2021. It takes the successful formula of Ossuary and adds many more features: shops to buy equipment and sell loot, ranged combat, a variety of magic spells and potions, and multiple dungeons to explore.

The beta test team will be pulling the game apart over the next few weeks, checking for bugs, and examining things like balance to make sure the game is fun to play. We'll have to play test until at least a few of us make it right through to the end of the game. That'll take a while; this game is hard!

If all goes well, I'm hoping for a release in July. In the mean time, keep an eye on this web site, or the Mastodon and Bluesky feeds, or perhaps even join the Discord to keep up with the latest news.
