Greetings, officer! Thank you for agreeing to take the lead of our latest team! Now that you are in position, I can share some more of the details with you. The following information is, of course, classified.
The Unity of Free Planets has been working on a cloaking device that will hopefully give us an edge over the Donos Empire should our occasional disputes with them escalate to full scale warfare. The device is in the prototype stage, and can currently only cloak small spacecraft for a short period of time. We have modified the K-53, a star fighter from the USS Vanguard, to accommodate it. We removed its shields and lasers to make room for the cloaking device and increased its seating capacity from two to four.
This game is currently undergoing beta testing prior to release. You are welcome to help out with this: simply join our Discord server where a time-limited beta test version is offered for download each week.
The new team, Star Cadre, is a semi-autonomous organisation under Unity Security (UniSec), with its own headquarters and budget, and with control over its own recruitment. UniSec wants you to build up the team and send them on various covert missions, with the K-53 allowing them to arrive unexpected by the enemy.
If the Star Cadre proves successful enough over a number of missions, then the team will be made a permanent part of UniSec. If not, then the experiment will be considered a failure and the team disbanded.
Star Cadre: Team Command is a squad combat game, expanding on the earlier game Star Cadre: Combat Class. You control a handful of individual characters on a mission map, exploring, attacking enemies, rescuing hostages, and collecting important items. This much is taken from Star Cadre: Combat Class. To these elements Star Cadre: Team Command adds a campaign mechanic: the single mission gameplay of Star Cadre: Combat Class is expanded into a campaign where you attempt a series of missions, set in a number of environments, with a greater variety of enemies, hostages and items, and the ability to improve your team between missions.
Star Cadre: Team Command is in beta testing.
